How to crop an image online

What is image cropping?
Image cropping is a destructive operation that removes pixels outside a selected rectangular region, producing a smaller image with the same pixel density as the original. Unlike resizing, which keeps the entire image but changes its dimensions, cropping discards content permanently. The cropped output is encoded into a new file using a canvas, with JPEG and WebP using lossy compression (quality ~92%) and PNG using lossless encoding to preserve transparency and sharp edges. Aspect-ratio constraints are commonly used to fit platform-specific image slot sizes: 1:1 for Instagram posts and profile photos, 4:3 for standard cameras and print, 16:9 for widescreen video thumbnails and presentation slides.
